APA National Update – Week of March 22nd: Nicole Morrison, Hire an APA Pro and more…

APA National Update, March 22, 2021

Nicole Morrison Photography
I’ve never met Nicole Morrison in person (APA San Francisco), but if she is anything like her photography, I would describe her as colorful, bold, fun, and passionate. She’s making a mark on the food and lifestyle world as a photographer with a mission to stop climate change. In fact, her personal work (Compost Awareness) includes a contemporary still life of composting fruits and vegetables. The accompanying blog entry describes the five best things about composting – you’ve got to love a photographer that blogs about the joys of composting! Things haven’t always been easy for Morrison; it’s taken her a while to find her passion for food and lifestyle photography after graduating college with a degree in photojournalism. However, she has arrived on the scene in an unforgettably creative way – including GIFs! Read more…..

APA DC: 30 Minutes with Jeff Glotzl
March 23, 2021 8:00 am Pacific, 11:00 am Eastern
APA DC presents 30 Minutes With… Jeff Glozl. Shooting Plates and Finding Donors: Photography with Retouching in Mind
We’ve all been there: everything is perfect… except for the background. Maybe the art director decided they needed a vertical after all. Perhaps the big beautiful octabank you just bought is reflecting in the window. Maybe the client’s cousin’s, uncle’s podiatrist thinks the model should be standing in a lake.

Whatever the reason, it helps to know how to photograph a scene with some some aces up your sleeve. Shooting background plates, getting lighting variations, or capturing additional donor images can make the difference between simply recording a scene and crafting an image. It can also be the difference between a smooth post production process and thousands of dollars in additional retouching. This event is free.

APA NY is thrilled to announce the second session of our monthly series: The Holistic Photographer: ReBoot and ReBalance in 2021!
As photographers we often find ourselves physically and creatively exhausted and tend to neglect taking great care of us while we are dedicated to our clients and talent in front of the camera. This series will focus on how we can nurture and heal the physical and mental strains while working long hours and in challenging conditions. During these interactive sessions you will learn from a variety of health experts about new modes of self-care and how to build healthy habits around your body, mind, and soul.
Please join March Daigle and APA for a live strength workout and an exciting Q + A about how to integrate strength, stability, and mobility into your lives to feel more balanced.
