Hi instructors,Can you kindly remind your students that we are doing 2 more equipment return events this week. Last Friday, we got 13 students to return equipment which was a good start. However, I believe we still have quite a few items that need to be returned. Please forward the message below to students.

There will be 2 more opportunities to return your borrowed equipment to SWC.

5/19 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

  2. Follow the arrows into Parking Lot A. The Drop-Off area will be in the middle row of the solar panels.
  3. At the Drop-Off area, stay in your vehicle. Unlock or pop the trunk. A Photo Department member will remove the equipment.
  4. We will record the equipment returned along with the info on your sign.
  5. Please understand that we won’t take the time to talk to anyone.
  6. Follow the arrows to leave campus on Gotham street.

Later, you will receive an email about confirmation of the returned equipment. Any questions on the condition of the equipment will be in the email. We are practicing social distancing and limiting all contact with other people. Thank you for your understanding. Questions about the return process can go mtruitt. Additional Information:

There may be a line of cars entering the campus. Please be patient as we try to move the line as quickly as possible.

Please keep your windows up when approaching the Drop-off area.

SWC employees will be managing the return equipment process. They will be using Personal Protection Equipment including mask and gloves when obtaining equipment from the vehicle. We will only be touching the outside of the vehicle to open a trunk door or rear door if needed. We will only be touching Photography equipment when reaching into the vehicle.

We will not be socializing with people in the vehicle in order to keep in line with social distancing protocols.

Please understand that students are still not allowed outside of their vehicles on the SWC campus except for within the bus stop waiting area.

If you can only come to campus by bus, please email Micajah Truitt a mtruitt. We will contact you and set a more exact day and time to expect you. That way, we can look for you at the bus stop.

Any questions or comments can be sent to the emails provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

From Lamia Khorshid, Art 206 instructor:

I am pleased to announce that from ART 206 Southwestern College Students: Elizabeth Garcia, Carla Perez, Robert Pianavilla, and James White had images selected for the online exhibition. From nearly 350 images submitted, just over 100 images were selected for the show, and only 30 were selected for printed catalog publication. I am proud to announce that Carla and Jim also had work selected for the printed catalog! I myself decided to submit my images that I had made during this time, but only after encouraging my students to do so, and I had 3 images selected, This selection is made more special to me by the important fact of exhibiting with my students. I know you will enjoy this exhibit, as all of us grapple with what it looks like and what it feels like to be living through an unprecedented and surely historic global crisis. Through art we are united, uplifted, soothed, and connected.

Here is the landing page for the exhibition. Please click on each of the images to go to each individual gallery. And then click on the thumbnail from any image in the Full Exhibition to enlarge that image and read brief artist statements. Carla wrote poetry that was combined with her image as part of the work, and the other students submitted their artist statements.
