E-commerce Product Photographer

SDDC Goods – San Diego, CA 92117 $18 – $22 an hour

SDDC Goods is an e-commerce company consisting of 3 high quality consumer products brands. Our business was started in early 2016 by two cofounders passionate on building physical products brands with amazing customer experiences. We have a fast moving start-up environment, and we’re ready to hire our second full-time in-house employee: Product Photographer / Graphic Designer.

We’re located in the Bay Park area of San Diego, and our brands include:

  • BirdRock Baby: high quality, affordable baby products that parents and little ones love
  • Nextrino: innovative fitness and recovery products
  • Gold BJJ: Brazilian jiu-jitsu training equipment and apparel

We are constantly bringing new products to market, and we’re looking for a Product Photographer capable of taking stunning photos that will turn online shoppers into buyers. Beautiful pure white background product shots that stand out from the competition are our bread and butter, but we’re also looking for lifestyle shots and video assets. In addition to product photography, this role will involve graphic design work including general creative asset creation as well as product packaging and materials design.

You’ll work across our entire brand portfolio, and will get the opportunity to work on real consumer brands sold through a variety of channels including retail stores, our own websites, and Amazon.com. This is a chance to move the needle and do work that matters.

Had you been with us last month, you would have:

  • Prepped, shot, and edited white background product photos for 5 new colors of BirdRock Baby moccasins
  • Coordinated with a model to set up and execute a lifestyle shoot for a new Gold BJJ martial arts uniform product
  • Used Photoshop to create highly converting sales photos for a new Nextrino fitness product, calling out several product features in one image
  • Designed product packaging for an additional new scent of our popular Gold BJJ martial arts soap
  • Organized and optimized our creative asset library so our social media manager and digital marketer have easy access to images they need
  • Gone to mid-week happy hour at nearby Bitter Brothers Brewing Co

To be a good fit for this job, you should be:

  • A doer. We’re a start-up focused on setting goals, determining what needs to be done to achieve them, and executing. We don’t have time for politics, indecision, or inefficiency.
  • Someone who loves to learn. We’re a deliberately developmental business and are always striving to improve ourselves and our work.
  • Positive. We’re an upbeat team that genuinely enjoys creating physical products customers love through an amazing shopping and service experience.
  • Detail oriented. We live by the motto "how you do something is how you do everything," and attention to detail is vital for our photography and graphics.
  • Comfortable with technology. Our company is a hybrid between a tech startup and a consumer goods business. Leveraging technology is a core part of our business.

You’ll love working at SDDC Goods because:

  • We’re a small, positive, high energy business that is quickly growing.
  • We are results focused and offer unlimited vacation. We work hard, and understand that personal fulfillment is vital to succeeding professionally.
  • We realize that paying for healthcare is no fun, so we pay half of your bill.
  • We’re committed to creating a culture and environment where everyone looks forward to coming into the office.
  • We are growth oriented, and are ready to invest in your success. Through training, feedback, courses, and anything else you need, our goal is to help you become a top 1% product photographer in the USA within 18 months.

This role will be a full time position with a starting salary of $18-22/hour depending on experience. There will be opportunities for your role and salary to grow alongside our business

To apply, submit your resume and examples of your work via email to team at sddcgoods dot com with the subject "Product Photographer Application". Please do not apply for this position directly through Indeed! Any applications not submitted to this e-mail address, or submitted without the correct subject line will not be considered.
